Congratulations to Gold Medal Squared Advisory Member John Speraw for being named the MPSF Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year. John is in his 10th year at UC Irvine, and will be competing for his 3rd NCAA Championship in six years this weekend in Southern California.

Every year at this time pre-season begins and with it many decisions need to be made.Not only do you have to make these decisions, but you have very little time to implement many of them. What we have to do is prioritize our decision making. What is most important? Remember the old saying, “If everything is important then nothing is.”
I’m not a quick learner, but eventually I learn some things. Fortunately, I enjoy teaching, which is a great way to learn.
The MPSF is the premier NCAA men’s volleyball conference. Its members include BYU, CSUN, Hawaii, LBSU, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, UOP, and USC. Its members have won all of the NCAA championships that have been contested (except for two won by Penn State and one this year by Ohio State).
Three of our GMS staff members – Marv Dunphy, Rob Browning, and John Speraw – were recently honored by USA Volleyball with the Olympic Achievement Award.
