I’m currently working on a new team building presentation for our Volleyball Coaching Foundations Clinic.  While doing some research online, I found some very interesting information on positive coaching.  After collecting some information from a swimming website, and adding some thoughts of my own, I’ve come up with a Top 10 list of things not to do when coaching club or high school volleyball.  The intent is not to sound negative.  I think these are all very common mistakes, and if they are brought to our attention in an organized way perhaps it helps us?  So, here we go….

There has been a lot of talk in the volleyball community about the central premise of Gold Medal Squared, and the misconception that “GMS says there is only one way to coach/play/train, and that way is their way”.  I’d like to address that idea directly with this post, and try to put to bed some of the misunderstanding that seems to exist.

We have had a lot of demand for a clinic in FL, so we are pleased to announce that FIU has graciously offered to host a LEVEL 1 event in Miami on March 19-21, 2010

One of the defining features of our clinics is the amount of court time that we try to give the attendees. We are proud of the fact that we don’t just spend three days talking, but that we get on the court and the coaches get a chance to actually put into practice some of the concepts we teach.

Volleyball coaches in New England don’t get nearly enough credit for the work they have to do.

One of the best parts about going back to a familiar clinic location is that we have some traditions that we can continue to carry on. Maryland for us means two things: crabs and “yachting”.

The past two years I have been to Seattle the weather does the same thing – teases me with a beautiful sunny day and then rains on me for the next three. It was, as we say, good weather to be in the gym.
